Description
Removing the Existing FlowTemperature Switch
1. Turn OFF power to the pool pump and Salt Chlorine Generator cell before starting.
2. Remove the flow-temperature switch cover from the cell. See Figure 1.
Note: Do NOT discard the switch cover; it will be reinstalled after installation of the new switch assembly.
3. Loosen the flow-temperature switch cable that is wrapped around the switch nut. Note the direction of the arrows on top of the switch nut.
4. Cut the cable close to the switch to allow enough wire for the new switch cable to be connected to. See Figure 2.
5. Using a 1-3/16” (30 mm) adjustable wrench, carefully unscrew the flowtemperature switch assembly until the switch can be removed from the cell.
Note: Be careful not to damage the cell plastic coupling with the edge of the wrench.
6. Unscrew nut counterclockwise to remove flow-temperature switch assembly. See Figure 3.Highlights
Installing the New Flow-Temperature Switch
1. Insert the new flow-temperature switch into threaded hole in the cell and hand tighten as much as possible.
2. Using a flat 1-3/16” (30 mm) wrench, carefully tighten the new flowtemperature switch assembly one or two turns past hand tight.
Ensure arrows on the top of the switch nut are pointing in the flow direction and the center arrow is aligned in the center position as shown in Figure 4.
3. Strip back the cable that was cut from the unit. Note: Do NOT strip the individual wires.
4. Insert the RED switch-side wire into one side of a provided splice connector. Insert the RED cell-side wire into the other side of the same connector. Ensure both wires are fully inserted into the connector and then crimp using pliers. See Figure 5.
5. Repeat Step 3 for the WHITE and BLACK wires as shown below in Figure 5.
6. Insert the GREEN cell-side wire into one end of the final splice connector and crimp using pliers. See Figure 5.
Note: Flow-temperature switches manufactured before September 2018 will feature a grey cable containing a GREEN and WHITE wire. Insert these two wires into the same side of a splice connector and crimp using pliers. These switches are not compatible with cells manufactured after September 2018.7. Wrap the excess wire around the flow-temperature switch.
8. Replace the switch cover. See Figure 6.
9. The Salt Chlorine Generator is now ready for operation.
10. Return power to the pool pump and the Salt Chlorine Generator cell.Features
