The Next Evolution in Pool Heating
The AquaCal TropiCal Inverter Pool Heat Pump introduces a new standard in pool heating innovation, delivering unmatched efficiency, effortless comfort, and modern control for today’s homeowners. As states like California transition toward stricter Title 24 energy regulations, inverter heat pumps are emerging as the forward-thinking alternative to traditional gas heaters — and the TropiCal stands among the most advanced systems available.
Unlike conventional heaters that cycle fully on and off, the TropiCal utilizes true inverter technology to continuously modulate output. This means it maintains your desired pool temperature with exceptional precision while consuming significantly less energy and operating at remarkably low sound levels.

Why Heat Pumps Are Replacing Gas Heaters
For years, gas heaters dominated the market — largely due to familiarity. However, real-world pool usage patterns highlight why heat pumps are now the smarter long-term solution.
The Reality of Gas Heaters
- Commonly used only a few times per month
- Short heating bursts that result in high fuel consumption
- Sudden spikes in utility bills
- Requires gas lines, trenching, and concrete modifications
The Heat Pump Advantage
- Built to maintain temperature consistently
- Keeps your pool at a steady 80°F all season
- Operating costs comparable to running gas only a handful of times
- Additional savings when paired with a solar blanket
Humidity is not a requirement for heat pump performance. What truly matters is ambient air temperature — and in climates such as Southern California, inverter-driven heat pumps operate extremely efficiently.
Full Inverter Technology for Precise Comfort
Inverter technology functions like cruise control for your pool.
Instead of constant on/off cycling, the TropiCal:
-
Adjusts output smoothly based on real-time water and air conditions

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the heat pump delivered?
Your heat pump ships directly from the manufacturer and includes curbside delivery with a lift gate. This means the unit is lowered safely to the ground—no need to unload heavy equipment from the truck yourself.
How long does shipping take?
Most orders ship out within a few business days. Once the unit is on the way, the freight carrier will contact you using the phone number on your order to schedule a delivery appointment.
Will the delivery driver help move the unit into place?
Delivery includes lift gate service to the curb only. The driver will not move the unit beyond the delivery point or assist with placement on the equipment pad.
Are you an authorized AquaCal dealer?
Yes. We are an authorized AquaCal dealer, and all heat pumps are covered by the full manufacturer warranty when purchased through us.
Where does the heat pump ship from?
The heat pump is shipped directly from AquaCal to ensure proper handling, up-to-date inventory, and manufacturer-backed support.
What areas do you ship to?
Shipping is available within the continental United States. We do not ship to P.O. Boxes, APO/FPO addresses, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
How do I choose the correct size heat pump?
Proper sizing is important for performance and efficiency. As a general guideline:
-
T60 is recommended for pools up to 10,000 gallons
-
T70 is recommended for pools up to 15,000 gallons
-
T100 is recommended for pools up to 25,000 gallons
Pool size, desired temperature, run time, and local climate can all affect sizing needs.
Are heat pumps suitable for spas or hot tubs?
Heat pumps are best suited for maintaining comfortable pool temperatures. They are not ideal for rapidly heating spas or maintaining very high temperatures such as 104–110°F.
Do heat pumps work well in Southern California?
