    Instructions

How To Use R-0008 To Test Total Alkalinity

    • Fill the Testing Vial: Take a water sample from your pool or spa using the testing vial provided in your Taylor test kit. Fill the vial to the appropriate level, usually marked on the side of the vial.
    • Add the Total Alkalinity Indicator Reagent (R-0008): After filling the vial with the water sample, add the Total Alkalinity Indicator Reagent (R-0008) to the vial. The amount of reagent to add may vary depending on the specific instructions provided with your test kit. Typically, you'll add a specified number of drops.
    • Mix the Solution: Cap the vial and shake it well to ensure thorough mixing of the reagent with the water sample.
    • Color Development: Allow the solution to stand for a brief period, usually a minute or two, to allow the color to develop.
    • Compare to Color Chart: After the color has developed, compare the color of the solution to the Total Alkalinity color chart provided with your test kit. The color on the chart that most closely matches the color of your sample indicates the total alkalinity level in your pool or spa water.
    • Record the Result: Once you've matched the color, note the corresponding total alkalinity value. Record this value for reference.
    • Interpret the Results: Depending on your test kit, the total alkalinity level may be expressed in parts per million (ppm) or another unit. Follow the guidelines provided with your test kit to interpret the results.
