The Solar Sun Square Pool Cover with Water Anchor (Model SSSA-SB) is a 5' x 5' passive solar heating solution designed to enhance your pool's warmth and efficiency. Constructed from two layers of heavyweight UV-resistant vinyl, the clear top layer focuses sunlight onto the blue bottom layer, which absorbs approximately 50% of the sunlight and converts it into heat, while allowing the remaining sunlight to pass through for deep water heating.
Equipped with a water anchor, this cover adds stability and weight, making it ideal for high-wind areas. The design also includes encapsulated magnets that allow the squares to connect, forming a raft-like structure for maximum coverage, while still breaking apart easily to prevent entrapment in accidental falls . Additional features include an enlarged outer ring for better floating and rigidity, a hanging grommet on the inner grid for increased durability, and compatibility with automatic pool cleaners. This cover is unaffected by salt or chlorine systems and is easy to install and remove by one person.
By reducing water and chemical evaporation, the Solar Sun Square Pool Cover not only helps maintain your pool's temperature but also contributes to overall pool maintenance savings. It's a recommended choice by pool professionals for those seeking an efficient and user-friendly solar heating option.
- Solar Heating Efficiency: Utilizes sunlight to naturally increase pool water temperature during the day.
- Thermal Retention: Acts as a thermal blanket at night, preserving heat and reducing energy costs.
- Evaporation Reduction: Decreases water and chemical loss, contributing to overall pool maintenance savings.
- Stability in Windy Conditions: Water anchor provides added weight and stability, preventing displacement.
- User-Friendly Design: Easy to install and remove without the need for special tools; compatible with various pool systems.
How many Solar Sun Rings does my pool need?
We recommend enough Solar Sun Rings be purchased to cover up to 70% to 80% of your pools surface, ignoring the small triangles between the rings. You can determine the quantity needed by using our coverage calculator here.
Pool Dimensions:
- 15' x 30' = 9 Solar Sun Rings
- 16' x 36' = 12 Solar Sun Rings
- 20' x 40' = 16 Solar Sun Rings
How much heat does one Solar Sun Ring put out?
In an ongoing test at the National Pool Industry Research Center in California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo and during the summer months of 2005, Solar Sun Rings proves a total heat input to test pools of 21,000 BTU (or 84,000 Heat Joules) per day for each unit. This result was validated by repeatedly heating 10' x 19' test pools to a maximum of 8 degrees fahrenheit in 4 days and reached plateau after that. Approximately 67% of the pool was covered with Solar Sun Rings.
Can one person apply and remove Solar Sun Rings by themselves?
Each Solar Sun Ring is 60 inches (5 Feet) wide, which is the size that most adults can hold individually. With the rafting magnets attached, each Solar Sun Ring can be applied one by one, side by side in a matter of minutes, minimizing the need for multiple people for application and reducing trouble overall. No bulky reel or tools are required for application.
