The Solar Sun Rings Pool Cover SSRA-BL-02 with the Plain Blue Design is a passive solar heating device with anchors. made from two layers of UV-resistant vinyl. The top clear layer focuses sunlight onto the blue layer, which absorbs around 50% of the sunlight and converts it into heat. These rings are 5 feet in diameter and are designed to float on the surface of the pool and connect to each other with the anchors, helping to retain heat at night while reducing water and chemical evaporation during the day. They feature drain grommets that prevent them from sinking. They're compatible with both salt and chlorine pools and are easy to handle, install, and remove without needing special tools.
-
Solar Heating for Daytime Use: Solar Sun Rings® efficiently heat pool water during the day, harnessing the sun’s energy to raise water temperatures naturally.
-
Thermal Blanket Effect: At night, the rings act as a thermal blanket, helping retain heat in the water and reducing the need for additional heating.
-
Reduces Evaporation: The rings help minimize water and chemical evaporation, contributing to overall pool maintenance savings.
-
Encapsulated Magnets for Rafting: Built-in magnets hold the rings together, creating a rafting effect for better coverage while still allowing for easy break-apart to prevent entrapment.
-
Durable and Easy to Use: With added grommets, reinforced design, and compatibility with pool cleaners, these rings are simple to install, remove, and maintain, ensuring long-lasting use.
How many Solar Sun Rings does my pool need?
We recommend enough Solar Sun Rings be purchased to cover up to 70% to 80% of your pools surface, ignoring the small triangles between the rings. You can determine the quantity needed by using our coverage calculator here.
Pool Dimensions:
- 15' x 30' = 9 Solar Sun Rings
- 16' x 36' = 12 Solar Sun Rings
- 20' x 40' = 16 Solar Sun Rings
How much heat does one Solar Sun Ring put out?
In an ongoing test at the National Pool Industry Research Center in California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo and during the summer months of 2005, Solar Sun Rings proves a total heat input to test pools of 21,000 BTU (or 84,000 Heat Joules) per day for each unit. This result was validated by repeatedly heating 10' x 19' test pools to a maximum of 8 degrees fahrenheit in 4 days and reached plateau after that. Approximately 67% of the pool was covered with Solar Sun Rings.
Can one person apply and remove Solar Sun Rings by themselves?
Each Solar Sun Ring is 60 inches (5 Feet) wide, which is the size that most adults can hold individually. With the rafting magnets attached, each Solar Sun Ring can be applied one by one, side by side in a matter of minutes, minimizing the need for multiple people for application and reducing trouble overall. No bulky reel or tools are required for application.
