The Pentair Sand Dollar EC-145333 SD80 Top Mount Sand Filter is designed for simple operation, dependable performance, and long-lasting reliability. Constructed with a one-piece thermoplastic tank, the SD80 offers exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and long service life even in harsh pool environments.

Using #20 silica sand as the filter media, water is routed through the sand-filled tank where microscopic debris is trapped between sand particles. When pressure rises, the multi-port valve makes it easy to backwash by simply reversing the water flow to clear out dirt and restore efficiency. The six-function, 1½" or 2" top-mount valve includes a pressure gauge and manual air relief for precise control. With a vertical clearance of 74", a diameter of 26", and a 350 lb. sand requirement, the SD80 provides reliable performance and user-friendly service for pools up to 54,000 gallons.

Note: Pool water is routed through the sand-filled pressure vessel. The sand traps particles so small they are undetectable to the naked eye. Over time, dirt accumulates in the spaces between the sand particles, causing the pressure in the vessel to rise. This signals you to "backwash" the filter by simply reversing the water flow and "knocking out" the dirt.
