The upgraded clamp that replaces the old one. The Pentair 198102 is the new cast-style band clamp assembly for Clean and Clear Plus, FNS Plus, and Quad D.E. filters, and it takes the place of the older 190003 spring-style band clamp. It clamps the two halves of your filter tank together and seals them against the tank o-ring - the same job as before, done better. The die-cast aluminum clamp closes with a single 3/4-inch bronze nut, so there is no rubber mallet and no wrestling a spring clamp on and off.

Why It Is Better Than the Old Spring Clamp

  • Replaces the older 190003 spring-style band clamp with a simpler, sturdier cast design.
  • Anodized, powder-coated die-cast aluminum sections on rigid, corrosion-resistant hinges.
  • Closes with one captive coarse-thread bolt and a single 3/4-inch bronze nut - no mallet, no power tools.
  • Faster, cleaner service every time you open the filter.

Fits Your Filter

  • A replacement band clamp for Pentair Clean and Clear Plus, FNS Plus, and Quad D.E. filters.
  • It clamps the same tank flanges, so it fits your existing Plus-series filter - it does not matter if yours is new or has been on the pad for years.
  • Old part number it replaces: 190003 (spring-style band clamp). Cross-shopping 190003? This is the current cast-style replacement.

How to Use It

  • Turn off the pump and release all pressure with the filter air-relief valve.
  • Remove the old clamp from the tank seam - for a spring clamp, unhook it; for a cast clamp, remove the 3/4-inch nut.
  • Make sure the tank o-ring is clean and seated, and replace it if it is worn.
  • Place the cast clamp over both tank flanges, compress the ends with tongue-and-groove pliers, and start the bronze nut by hand.
  • Tighten the nut with a 3/4-inch socket to 16 to 18 ft-lbs, leaving a 1/2 to 3/4 inch gap between the clamp ends. Do not tighten until the ends touch.
  • Restart the pump, purge the air, and check for leaks.

Note: this is the cast clamp assembly. The matching clamp nut is Pentair 198098z (sold separately). It replaces the older 190003 spring-style band clamp.
