The OEM Pentair air flow switch (AFS), which senses the pressure drop across the air metering orifice. The air flow switch (AFS) senses the pressure drop across the air metering orifice. As soon as there is sufficient air flow, the AFS closes, closing the circuit to the hot surface igniter (HSI), which ignites the fuel mixture. On a call for heat, the blower and HSI are energized. In about 20 seconds, the gas valve opens and ignition occurs. The HSI then switches to a sensing mode and monitors the flame.
Highlights
- Crucial Sensing Capability: Senses the pressure drop across the air metering orifice, ensuring proper air flow for ignition.
- Automatic Circuit Closure: Closes the circuit to the hot surface igniter (HSI) as soon as there is sufficient air flow, igniting the fuel mixture.
- Efficient Heat Call Response: On a call for heat, simultaneously energizes the blower and HSI, leading to gas valve opening and ignition within about 20 seconds.
- Flame Monitoring: After ignition, the HSI switches to sensing mode to monitor and ensure the stability of the flame.
- Essential for Functionality: A critical component for the reliable operation and safety of your heating system, maintaining consistent and efficient heating performance.
