No. The SwimClear C275S is a cartridge filter — when the pressure rises 8 to 10 psi above the clean starting pressure, you simply shut off the pump, release the Easy-Lok ring, rinse the cartridge with a hose, and reinstall. No backwashing and no wasted water.
No supplemental media of any kind. The single pleated reinforced-polyester cartridge does all the filtering on its own. There is nothing to add, replace on schedule, or handle.
Watch the pressure gauge. When it reads roughly 8 to 10 psi above the clean starting pressure — the reading you noted right after installation or the last cleaning — it is time to rinse the cartridge.
