Hayward ProGrid Complete Element Cluster | 24 Sq. Ft | DEX2400DC

The DEX2400DC Complete Element Cluster is a full internal replacement for Hayward Pro-Grid DE2420 and Micro-Clear DE2400 filters, giving 24 square feet of filtration in one pre-assembled unit. It arrives built and aligned — eight grids seated on the bottom locator, topped by the collector manifold with flex air relief, and drawn together on the retainer rod. Frequently Asked Questions

Is DEX2400DC the same as DEX2420DC?

Yes. The two numbers refer to the same 24 sq ft assembly — DEX2400DC is the Micro-Clear era number and DEX2420DC the Pro-Grid one. Either will fit a DE2420 or a DE2400.

How do I know whether my grids need replacing or just cleaning?

Pull one and look at it in the light. If the fabric is thin, torn at the seams, or you can see through it in patches, DE is passing into the pool and cleaning will not bring it back. If the grids are simply grey and loaded, soak and rinse them instead.

My pressure will not drop after backwashing. Will this fix it?

Often, yes. A collector manifold that has cracked internally, or grids clogged solid with oils and scale, both hold pressure high after a backwash. This assembly replaces the manifold and all eight grids together, which is why it clears the problem where a single part does not.

Do I have to replace the whole cluster, or can I do one grid?

Single grids are available, but grids age at the same rate. If one has failed after several seasons the rest are usually close behind, and a full cluster is faster than three separate service calls.

How long should a set of grids last?

Three to five years is typical with routine backwashing and an annual teardown. Hard water, heavy chemical dosing and running the pump against a dirty filter all shorten that.

What do I need to recharge the filter afterwards?

Fresh DE powder, added through the skimmer with the pump running once the tank is sealed and purged of air. Charge to the weight listed on your filter label rather than guessing — underfilling lets debris blind the fabric.
