Cover Maintenance & Instructions

HOT TUB AND SPA COVER MAINTENANCE AND USE INSTRUCTIONS

Proper care and handling are essential to maintain the durability and effectiveness of your hot tub or spa cover. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage not covered under warranty.

General Caution

  • Covers are not tear, rip, or abuse-proof. Always handle with care.

  • Do not stand, sit, lie, or place heavy objects on the cover. Injury or drowning may occur.

  • Avoid placing reflective materials near the cover. Sun magnification can cause permanent heat damage.

Rain, Snow, and Weight Management

  • Excessive weight can warp, bow, or curl the cover edges.

  • Always remove rainwater, snow, or debris promptly to prevent puddling.

  • If puddling occurs, unzip the vinyl and flip the foam inserts.

Fading and Discoloration

  • Fading is natural with extended sun exposure.

  • This is a cosmetic issue and does not affect performance but is also not covered under warranty.

Cleaning and Vinyl Care

  • Clean regularly with mild soap and clean water.

  • Use a recommended protectant like 303 Protectant for added longevity.

  • Avoid:

    • Solvents

    • Petroleum products

    • Abrasive cleaners

    • Strong detergents (e.g. 409, Fantastik)

  • Never use products containing silicone or alcohol.

  • Apply vinyl protectant no more than once every six months to help retain plasticizers and avoid drying or cracking.

Chemical Exposure

  • Although materials are marine-treated, they will deteriorate faster when exposed to high chemical levels.

  • Always remove the cover completely when adding chlorine, bromine, ozone, or other chemicals.

  • Add chemicals frequently in small doses, not infrequently in large amounts.

  • Keep the cover far enough away to prevent accidental splashing.

Thread and Sewing Care

  • Sewing holes and threads are the most vulnerable points on the cover.

  • Always handle gently—avoid sudden jerking or pulling motions.

  • Especially in hot sun, vinyl becomes softer and more prone to damage.

  • Never pull one half of the cover against the other—this may cause tearing along stitch lines.

  • Handles, tie-downs, and hinges are reinforced but can still be damaged by rough use.

Floating Blanket (Optional but Recommended)

  • While not required for warranty, using a floating blanket:

    • Can extend the life of the cover

    • Improves heat retention and overall insulation

Sur-Loc Fastener Installation

  • Extend the tie-down strap fully, without stretching.

  • Attach the male fitting and fastener securely to prevent wind from lifting the cover.

Safety Reminders

  • NEVER leave a hot tub or spa uncovered.

  • NEVER leave a covered hot tub or spa unlocked or unattended.
