Acid Magic (USA-128-1) is a 1-gallon buffered muriatic acid — a full-strength, drop-in replacement for standard muriatic acid that gives off up to 90% fewer fumes and is far gentler to handle. Pool pros and owners use it to bring down high pH and total alkalinity, and to clean or etch surfaces, all without the choking fumes and skin burns of ordinary muriatic acid. Same acid strength, much easier and safer to work with.
- Buffered Muriatic Acid: Full-strength, 1-to-1 replacement for standard muriatic acid.
- Up to 90% Fewer Fumes: Much less harsh to breathe than ordinary muriatic acid.
- Gentler to Handle: Does not burn skin on contact the way standard muriatic acid does (still wear gloves and eye protection).
- Lowers pH & Alkalinity: Reduces high pH and total alkalinity, and cleans or etches surfaces.
-
NSF/ANSI 60 Certified: Certified for drinking-water treatment use.
- Test first: Check pH and total alkalinity and run an acid demand test to find the right dose. As a rough guide, about 1 quart per 10,000 gallons lowers total alkalinity around 10 ppm.
- Add safely: With the pump running, pour Acid Magic slowly into the deep end near a return jet. Keep it away from walls, liners, and metal fittings.
- Circulate and retest: Let it mix, then retest before adding more. Avoid overcorrecting.
-
Handle with care: Always wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection, and never add water to acid.
- Brand: Acid Magic
- Part number: USA-128-1
- Size: 1 gallon
- Type: Buffered muriatic (hydrochloric) acid
- Certification: NSF/ANSI Standard 60
What is it for?
Lowering high pH and total alkalinity in pools and spas, and acid-washing or cleaning surfaces.
How is it different from regular muriatic acid?
Same acid strength, but buffered so it produces about 90% fewer fumes and is gentler on skin.
How much do I add?
Run an acid demand test; roughly 1 quart per 10,000 gallons lowers total alkalinity about 10 ppm. Add gradually and retest.
Do I still need gloves?
Yes. It is still an acid — always wear gloves and eye protection.
