A screaming pump is almost always a worn shaft seal or bad motor bearings; a pump that will not prime is sucking air at the lid o-ring, a cracked lid or strainer basket. Start with the seal, Go-Kit and lid o-ring (and lube), then the lid and basket, then a replacement motor if the bearings are gone.
